The image above shows added insulation.  High temperature caulking was applied to all fireplace gaps.  Aluminum tape was used for some of the insulation joints.  On either side of the image is partial images of recessed lights that are hanging because the ceiling still needs to be painted.

The two boxes on either side of the fireplace is for left and right surround (5.1) speakers.  The center speaker will get its connection from one of the blue boxes above the fireplace.

Added to this wall:

  • A second AC outlet just to the left of the fireplace to power all the expected electronic components.
  • Conduit (white conduit) to offer HDMI runs.
  • AC above the fireplace to power the TV set that will be mounted over the fireplace.
  • Nail plates to thwart drywall screws from going into electrical and conduit runs.

Note that blue paint tape is used to expect to show the bottom of the TV set when it is mounted.

Customer had to have the ceilings scraped of popcorn due to asbestos.  In the family room they also had the paneling removed.  Over the fireplace was a drywall box installed that needed to be removed.  When the paneling was removed termite damage was discovered.  Fortunately, the termites had only eaten the paper covering of the drywall.  The ceiling and walls were not finished.  Drywall tape and mud was missing on the walls.  Ceilings were not finished.

Family room remodel – problems and planning:

The drywall box was removed on top of the fireplace.  All drywall on the termite walls was removed.  Decisions needed to be made.  The client wanted to mount a TV over the fireplace.  In my mind this required that power, antenna, optical audio and HDMI connections needed to be provided above the fireplace, out of sight and run to the left side of the fireplace where the support electronics would be placed:

  • Cable TV Tuner
  • Onkyo surround sound amplifier.
  • Play Station 4.
  • Other HDMI devices.

After enjoying our Bosh dishwasher  for years, we began getting an error code E:24 and the washer would not start the wash process.

Solution:

  • Turn the dishwasher on.
  • Press the Start button.  There will be 3 pump motor sounds, one after the other.
  • I place a finger on the front top of the lid to also feel the first pump sound segment.  Listen for the pump motor to go through its first pump cycle which is rather short duration.  This motor sound might be hard to hear with the door closed.  Do NOT open the dishwasher door.
  • After the first motor sound finishes ,a second motor sound begins but is less deep and a bit more quiet. Do NOT open the dishwasher door.  This motor sound is also quite short in duration.
  • A third pump sound will begin. It is exactly the same as the first in sound and feel.  We wait a few seconds and open the dishwasher door and then close it.
  • Very shortly ,after closing the dishwasher door, you should hear the washer begin to clean the dishes.  It is ok to open the door once this process takes place.  I often do this to add more dishes and silverware.

The dishwasher has worked perfectly for us for years using this method.  I hope this works for you.

This will not repair the problem that presents the error code.

I recommend that you be aware of techniques used by dictators.

Techniques of Dictatorships

When a dictator’s political approval rating plummets, one technique to get the nation to follow him/her is to create, find or use a real enemy and go to war with.  Typically, the country will rally around their leader if they buy into seeing an external threat.  The approval rating of Donald Trump is at a historical low.  His recent military actions, which seem so far as being of value, might also suggest a motivation for increasing his low approval rating.  Some fear that the United States might go to war very soon for reasons you might examine such as diversion.

Another motivation for going to war is to divert a nation’s attention away from some embarrassment.  Past United States presidents have used this technique.

Diversionary Foreign Policy is a recognized technique.
