OPINION

Joe Manchin, Senator for West Virginia, follows the despicable near criminal act of a dictator that one person decides against the best interests of the many.  The US Senate has 100 members and Joe Manchin is just one that is dictating he will not vote for Build Back Better, a plan put forth by President Biden and supported by most all Democrat members of Congress.

For most individuals, especially politicians, to make an important decision that can affect a lot of other people, a list of separate factors and considerations typically are measured for their importance in that person’s mind to come up with a total plan of action.  Some times a lot of different values, facts, and views are mulled over in a person’s mind to come up with what they think is the best solution.  Let us list a few obvious factors and proceed to predict, or guess, Manchin’s mental state for each factor we can come up with and give each a percent of importance followed with our research.

Let me take the liberty to put values that total well over 100%.  There are two reasons for this.

First, is most parents will say that each of their children are 100% value to them.  Four children would then total 400%

Second is when any person goes to evaluate, give values, give scores, to items of consideration, the values often get considered differently as we talk about each one and we seldom try to seek a one hundred percent.

The percent values shown below are only to guess how Manchin might value each political item in that moment he considers it’s value.

Interest in coal:  90%

Interest in oil:  80%

Interest in global warming (Expected pending end of civilization.):

For the USA:  10%

For the world:  5%

Democratic Party:  30%.  For some politicians, politics is a means toward an end, a path way toward what they think they personally need for themselves, want for others and aspire toward for the world.  The purpose of politics is not to get rich except for a few politicians like Manchin seems to be.  It appears that Manchin is not deep Democratic team player, but a self centered outlier.

Plutocracy:  80%

Manchin couldn’t go along with taxing billionaires because it’s not fair to demonize such wonderful “job creators” (he said).

The people of West Virginia:  25%

The people of the United States:  20%

Low Income children:  10%.   Children With Young Children Used Child Tax Payments for Child care.    Manchin is against the one-year extension of an expansion of the child tax credit.

Manchin seems to be a Plutocracy lap dog for shutting down Build Back Better legislation which he claims will cost too much.  Except he along with both political parties have continually increased the funding of the Pentagon.  Military spending seems way more important than serving the interests of the citizens of this nation and West Virginia.

Cheating The Election Process

The Republican Party finds itself needing to cheat in an attempt to maintain political, legal, and social power.  Past policies have moved it into a corner which seems difficult for it to move out. Now the party cheats by some, if not all, of the methods listed below:

Because the Democratic Party supports a full and free democracy but the Republican Party does not, the Republican Party has begun cheating the normal democratic election process.   Young voters and minority voters support the Democrat party,  Varying portions of minority voters in many states are having their votes being suppressing through these despicable actions by the Republican Party, shown below:

  • Gerrymandering congressional districts.
  • Removing names of people who have not voted in recent elections.
  • Limit early voting.
  • Limit vote by mail.
  • Reduce the number of ballot drop boxes.
  • Imposed new or stricter rules requiring voters to show identification at the polls.
  • Barred from voting for past felony conviction.
  • Reduce the number of walk in polling stations.
  • Force people to wait in longer lines.
  • Misinformation as to how to vote by using scamming efforts.

How you can fight against these authoritarian, non Democratic actions, by the Republican Party:

  • Take legal action to overturn some GOP suppression initiatives.  And support such efforts.
  • People need to try to vote, in overwhelming numbers.  You need to get out and vote!
  • Voters need to be aware of obstacles, including misinformation and potential harassment at polling stations.
  • Political organizers need to help communities navigate a complex and threatening landscape.

We had had a new roof put on to our house with new facia boards.   When it came to put up Christmas lights my wife and I did NOT want to put the lights up using the old method of nailing U type clips hold the light cords in place as seen in the image below.

We discovered a really nifty plastic clip that slides into the existing roof tiles and also on to any thin metal which does NOT penetrate any portion of the roof.

Each plastic clip does lift the tile just a little bit as part of the clip slides under the roof tile to ensure a secure snug fit.  The image below shows the clip beginning to be inserted into the front edge of our roof.  This clip holds two type of light bulbs.  All of our lights are very small and require that we insert our bulbs into the very small bulb opening closest to the roof tiles.

The next image shows the plastic clip fully inserted into the front edge of our roof tile.

Obviously, the next step is to begin to insert the individual lights into each clip.  I decided to count every 6 lights for clip insertion.  You can choose whatever light distance works best for you.  I hold the Christmas light string out along the front roof edge and where the 6th light should be attached, I remember where I should insert a clip.  If you get the precise location wrong, usually by a half inch or less, the clip can very easily be slid side to side while still gripping the roof tiles.  A real important tip for you to use is to first slide the clip into the edge of the roof before attaching the light bulbs.  The reason is the the clip is held firm for you by the roof.  This makes it way easier to then insert the light bulb as shown below.

As you can see, the light is inserted from under the clip in the image above.

Because we have the very small light bulbs, we need to get our bulb into the very small rear opening.   This gets a bit tricky because you need to position the bottom of the electrical cord under the light bulb hole and then widen out the two plastic arms to allow you to slide the bulb into the very small hole.  In the image below, you can see that I am trying to separate the two plastic wings so that the very small light bulb holding will allow the bulb to be slipped in.

This all might appear rather complicated and difficult but it really is not.

In the image above you can see that these clips also slide firmly on to any thin metal.

The image above show the rather large box that you should look for in your local hardware store.

2021 US Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Highlights.

2021 US Bipartisan Infrastructure Bill Highlights.

11/07/2021 Score Card Comments 0 Comment

Following is a bullet list of main aspects of the bipartisan infrastructure bill.  Please be advised that this list does not go into detail but offers you a quick look at what the government wishes to achieve broadly for it’s citizens.

$110 billion for roads and bridges

$40 billion specifically for the replacement, repair, and rehabilitation of bridges.

There are more than 617,000 bridges across the United States. Currently, 42% of all bridges are at least 50 years old, and 46,154, or 7.5% of the nation’s bridges, are considered structurally deficient, meaning they are in “poor” condition.

$17.5 billion will go toward other major projects that are too large for standard funding programs.

$1 billion toward reconnecting communities that were divided by transportation projects.

The Reconnecting Communities Initiative aims to create a fund that would help cities and states rectify the damage caused by the hundreds of highways built through minority neighborhoods across the country during the middle of the 20th century.  The bipartisan infrastructure bill cut it by 95 percent.

$11 billion for traffic safety programs.  Safe Streets for All” program to help decrease the number of crashes and deaths associated with roadways and driving, particularly those involving pedestrians and cyclists.

Every year, more than 38,000 Americans die in road crashes, the leading cause of death in the US for people younger than 55. And the past four years for which records exist (2016–19) have been the deadliest for pedestrians since 1990.

$39 billion for public transit.  “repair and upgrade aging infrastructure, modernize bus and rail fleets, make stations accessible to all users, and bring transit service to new communities.”

Its goal is to fight the vicious cycle wherein the poor quality of facilities, stations, trains, and buses causes delays, creating an unreliable transit experience that leads to declines in ridership. When ridership declines, transit agencies generate less revenue through fares, meaning they lack the funds to take on the repair and maintenance problems that led to decreased ridership in the first place.

$66 billion for railroads.

That will mean better Amtrak service on existing high-traffic routes (relatively speaking) like Portland–Seattle, Richmond–D.C., and Chicago–Milwaukee. It might mean new service in fast-growing regions, like between Charlotte and Atlanta or Atlanta and Nashville.

$22 billion in grants to Amtrak.

$24 billion toward modernizing the Northeast Corridor.

$12 billion in federal-state partnership grants for intercity rail including high-speed rail.

$5 billion for rail improvement.

$3 billion to improvements in grade crossing safety.

$7.5 billion for electric vehicle infrastructure.  Creates a nationwide network of chargers for electric vehicles, both along highways and within local communities.

Such a buildout potentially represents more than triple the number of charging stations in the nation at present. According to the U.S. Department of Energy there are currently about 122,000 charging ports—Level 2 and DC fast-charging connectors that could be used to charge EVs simultaneously. That’s at more than 48,000 station locations.

$2.5 billion for zero-emission buses

$2.5 billion for low-emission buses

$2.5 billion for ferries.

$17 billion for ports and $25 billion for airports.  This will help address backlogs for repairs, reduce the level of emissions and congestion near these areas, and help pursue low-carbon and electric technologies.

“Our ports and waterways need repair and reimagination…Modern, resilient, and sustainable port, airport, and freight infrastructure will support U.S. competitiveness by removing bottlenecks and expediting commerce and reduce the environmental impact on neighbouring communities,”

$50 billion for water infrastructure.  This should make the country’s water infrastructure more resilient against the effects of climate change, such as droughts and floods, and also cyberattacks.

This is a much-needed step forward in addressing our region’s failing water infrastructure that is threatening the health of our communities,”

$55 billion toward clean drinking water by replacing all of the country’s lead pipes and services lines.

When a person swallows or breathes in lead particles, the body stores the toxin in the blood, bones, and tissues, where it accumulates over time. According to the Centers for Disease Control, there is no safe level of lead exposure. Lead is particularly harmful to children, causing reduced IQ, language development, and attention span, and increased aggression and impulsivity. In addition, prolonged exposure for both children and adults can damage the brain and nervous system, reduce fertility, and increase the risk of high blood pressure, heart disease, kidney disease, and likely even cancer.

$65 billion for the power grid.  This will upgrade the electrical grid, including miles of new transmission lines and investments into clean-energy projects.

The nation’s aging transmission and distribution system needs a significant overhaul. Recent events show that the U.S. grid is woefully unprepared to handle cyberthreats and extreme weather events like heat waves or winter storms.

$65 billion for broadband Internet.   This will increase needed broadband access across the country by building new infrastructure. It will also support efforts to fund lower cost broadband by “requiring funding recipients to offer a low-cost affordable plan,” and create a permanent program to help low-income households have better access to broadband internet.

The “digital divide” – the persistent U.S. gap between the broadband haves and have-nots – became glaringly obvious during the pandemic as school, work and health care shifted online. Tens of millions either don’t have internet access or, if they do have access to a phone or cable company, can’t afford to pay for it.

$21 billion for environmental remediation.  This expenditure will clean up of brownfield and Superfund sites in communities, as well as capping orphaned gas wells and reclaiming abandoned mines.

$21 billion in funds for environmental remediation, including funds to clean up Superfund and brownfield sites, reclaim abandoned mine land, and cap orphaned gas wells. The Great Lakes Restoration Initiative—a successful program that fights invasive species, cleans up pollution, and protects the Great Lakes for future generations—will receive $1 billion in funding. The bill aims to create jobs in rural communities that have experienced underdevelopment and remediate sites that have historically affected communities of color at higher rates.

This investments will add, on average, about 2 million jobs per year over the coming decade.

Note:  Some politicians claim that this rather large expenditure of money is way too much.  A problem with this viewpoint is comparing this national infrastructure improvement expenditure against what the citizens of this country pay for national defense.   The 2020 national defense expenditure was $778 billion dollars.  The national infrastructure improvement money goes into making the United States a better operational business which we all live for.  We are improving where the people live, the peoples country house.  National defense is the product you think of when you wish to protect the national house.  National defense is similar to buying any home protection plan.  The USA’s importance sort of depends upon the value of the nation’s home.  Not taking care of the United States infrastructure properly, the nation house, may diminish the property value to the  citizens, as we see in many other countries typically led by authoritarian leaders who care about themselves and not the house.   We need to continually conduct home maintenance and upkeep.  National defense expenditures follows, trails, the need to maintain a properly functioning peoples’s house.

We should all thank the following Republicans, listed below, for having independent, intelligent, compassion minds for supporting legislation that helps to improve our country from past neglect and ensure a better future for all of us.  These individuals performed a sort of heroic deed by not catering to the expected partisan tactic of Republican retrenchment.  These remarkable individuals all voted for the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill, (November 2021).

  • Andrew Garbarino of New York
  • Adam Kinzinger of Illinois
  • Nicole Malliotakis of New York,
  • David B. McKinley of West Virginia,
  • Fred Upton of Michigan,
  • Tom Reed of New York,
  • Chris Smith of New Jersey,
  • Don Bacon of Nebraska,
  • Jefferson Van Drew of New Jersey,
  • Anthony Gonzalez of Ohio,
  • Don Young of Alaska,
  • Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania
  • John Katko of New York

Thank you, to each politician listed above, for supporting the largest transportation spending package in U.S. history!  Thanks also to the people who put these politicians into office because you are at the front line of democratic rule and it seems you performed admirably by supporting these individuals.

Manchin And Sinema Possible Intentions

Manchin And Sinema Possible Intentions

There are two current Democrat senators, Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, who appear to be trying every avenue to thwart the Biden agenda to vastly improve the planet from climate devastation, improve the crumbling US infrastructure and improve the lives of most citizens.  Why would anyone impede this terrific positive political move forward?  Let me list some possibilities for you to consider:

#1). Are they working for the plutocracy class to turn the United States into a fascist country by making the Democratic Party look to be a failure?

Evidence:

    • Umberto Eco,  (1932 to 2016) was an Italian medievalist, philosopher, semiotician, cultural critic, political and social commentator, and novelist.  His prescription for ‘Ur-Fascism lists 14 items that reveals if a society is fascist.  “Trumpism as currently practiced in the US hits all 14.” https://thetyee.ca/Opinion/2018/07/30/Fourteen-Steps-To-Fascism/https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2021/jan/16/if-trump-looks-like-a-fascist-and-acts-like-a-fascist-then-maybe-he-is-one
    • Robert Owen Paxton (born June 15, 1932) is an American political scientist and historian1998 paper “The Five Stages of Fascism”.  It is reported that the United States has reached mile marker two out of the five, within that road map.
    • Because the actions of Manchin and Sinema appear to be working to help the Republican Party then consider this.  “The Republican Party has turned fascist – it is now the most dangerous threat in the world”
      https://www.independent.co.uk/voices/republican-party-donald-trump-voter-suppression-b1868426.html
It is very suspicious that these two senators may be working for the Republican Party and thus the move toward fascism for the United States.
    • The current leader of the Republican Party, Trump, is reported to be a fascist so if you see a connection between Manchin and Sinema toward aiding the Republican Party then why?

#2).  Looking at the past actions of Manchin and Sinema, it seems quite clear that both are doing their best to make themselves happy, reward themselves, and not consider  how to do their paid job to better for the whole nation.  It is all about themselves and very little for the people they represent.

Manchin:

  • Manchin evidently wrote a memo “dated July 28 and first reported by Politico from Manchin to Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer (D-N.Y.), in which he outlined his priorities on the spending bill beyond the dollar figure.”
    • Copy of Manchin memo.
  • “The Koch network has been actively pressuring Democratic Sen. Joe Manchin to oppose key legislative items linked to Biden’s agenda, including filibuster reform and voting rights legislation.”  Wikipedia shows that the Koch network  “lobby against efforts to expand government’s role in health care and climate change mitigation.”
  •  Manchin is allegedly defending corporate interests:  “Law firms represent the second largest source of donations to Manchin’s campaign committee …” “ And all of these lawyers have a major stake in what happens with Biden’s new tax plan.”
  • Manchin has personal coal interests.  He owns a sake in a coal company run by his son.  “Coal dollars are floating his boat.”
    https://www.inquirer.com/columnists/attytood/joe-manchin-blind-trust-conflict-of-interest-coal-20211019.html
  • https://www.cnn.com/2021/10/27/politics/joe-manchin-coal-interests/index.html

Sinema:

“Sinema is clearly still drunk on her own power, and maybe the power of her new best friends in private equity and in Silicon Valley that she now gets to pal around with.”

  • Thumbs down to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
  • Holdout for scrapping the filibuster.
  • Fails to support President Biden’s agenda.

Sinema has received “a big assist from the pharmaceutical and financial industries, whose political action committees and top executives stuffed her coffers in the middle of negotiations on Democrats’ massive infrastructure and social spending bills.”

Summary:  It is possible that both Manchin and Sinema honest intention is to not work toward moving the United States being a fascist country but it still remains that their possible stupid actions are working toward that end.  In any case, they seem to be working toward their own self interests and not for the whole nation.

Consider What You Can Do:

  • Work toward impeaching both Manchin and Sinema.
  • Do everything to diminish the power of the plutocracy actors and organizations that have supported these two politicians.
  • Consider not doing any business within the geographical area where each senator represents their constituents.   If the voters in Manchin’s and Sinema’s political districts support politicians that work against what is best for the rest of us, then why not stop offering any personal support to people and business within those geographical areas?  Do not stay in hotels and motels in those areas.  Do not buy products that are manufactured or sold in those districts.
  • If both Manchin and Sinema vote to support President Biden’s Build Back Better plan and it passes Congress then Score Card will remove this post.
