Pittsburgh Post Gazette newspaper endorses Trump for allegedly flawed reasons.

The Editorial Board of the Pittsburg Post-Gazette, October 31, 2020, endorsed Donald Trump to continue being the president of the United States in the article titled:

The man and the record

They listed a lot of reasons for their endorsement but almost all were, allegedly, false when fact checking their claims.  Following are some major reasons they listed:

“Under Donald Trump the economy, pre-COVID, boomed, like no time since the 1950s.”

WRONG: “… growth in Trump’s initial three years in office was 2.5 percent — barely above Obama and well below the growth under the Clinton, Reagan and Johnson administrations.”

_____

“Unemployment for Black Americans is lower than it has ever been, under any president of either party.”

Wrong:  Under Obama the black unemployment rate started at 12.7% and slowly improved down to 7.5% which equals 5.2% improvement.  Trump’s administration kept this improvement going from 7.5% down to 5.4% which equals a 2.1% improvement, less than half as the Obama administration accomplished.

_____

“Under Mr. Trump, our trade relationships have vastly improved and our trade deals have been rewritten.”

Wrong: “President Donald Trump is painting a false picture of a U.S. economy unaffected by his trade war with China and other countries.”

_____

“He has put America first, just as he said he would.”

Wrong: “Instead of putting America first, he has put Donald first.”

_____

“He also kept his promise to appoint originalists to the Supreme Court of the United States. His third appointment, Amy Coney Barrett, is the best of all — a jurist whose mind and character and scholarship ARE first class.”

Wrong:  “… the nation now suffers a president, a Senate and a Supreme Court that do not represent the views or wishes of a majority of our people.”

“We may soon learn whether Justice Barrett is the independent jurist who strictly and honorably follows the law, or whether she will bring the court into further disrepute as the American people increasingly see it as simply another partisan branch of government.”

_____

“Under Mr. Trump the United States achieved energy independence for the first time in the lifetimes of most of us.”

Wrong:  “It is true that in the final months of 2019, “the US gradually moved into being a net exporter of crude and products,” he said, meaning the country exports more than it imports.”

“But the US is still importing 7 million barrels per day of crude and more than a million barrels of refined products,”

“United States is not yet strictly speaking energy independent”

Conclusion:  If you perform an Internet search to find out if this newspaper is biased or not you should discover that it is right leaning.  From this posting example, one might also draw the conclusion that this newspaper is allegedly dishonest at a time in our history that we really need clarity and honesty.

October 27, 2020, I ordered this book:  SHADOW NETWORK: MEDIA, MONEY, AND THE SECRET HUB OF THE RADICAL RIGHT by Anne Nelson, hard back.  I was under the impression that the book would arrive in just a few days.  October 29, I checked my order to find out that it had not shipped but would arrive November 26!  YIKES!  That is almost a whole month to wait for the book.  I quickly went back to peruse the Internet and made sure that my Google browser had “Shopping” selected followed by “Show only,” “Available nearby”.  Barnes and Noble showed up as having limited stock.  I called the store and they did have the book and told me to refer to their Barnes and Noble web site price which was a few dollars less.  I have a Barnes and Noble card which should also give me a discount.  In every case, up to now, Amazon delivers items I purchase within a few days but not this item.  I am paying more but I really want to read this book.

Every time I would take a picture with my Android LG-V30 cell phone and then send that image to a friend or family member, using the Gallery share function, the image would NOT be sent.

When viewing the photo you just took in Gallery, you will see a number of menu options just below the image you just took.  The menu items are as follows:  Memo, Related, Edit Share, Delete.  The menu I use to send my photos to a person is Share.  When I choose Share a new screen pops up with the title “Share via.  Tap to send images, music, videos, etc to nearby devices wirelessly”.  Below this screen menu are icons showing small images of my most popular people that I communicate with and below that are a huge selection of applications you can use.

I always choose the icon images of family and friends and seldom go down to Messaging or Email choices.  But this would fail to work until I made the following change.

Solution:  Settings > General > Apps & Notifications > App Info. > Gallery > Data Usage > (Turn this next setting ON) Unrestricted data usage.

This worked for me.  I know it did because shortly after sending my first image I got a quick thank you response from the person I sent the picture and text to.  Also, the image and my text, that I had just sent, kept showing in Messaging application and did not disappear.

During the Trump town hall TV interview there was a women who was positioned behind Trump on his left side and camera right who used head and hand gestures to support Trumps’s statements.  I accuse NBC for allowing this to happen.  It sort of makes the network look to be in favor of Trump.  The producer was at fault for placing this person in the image.  I fault the director for not asking the camera person to move his or her camera so that this person would not be seen.  I fault the camera person for not taking self action.   Is now NBC following FOX “News” bias?

List of Trump’s Alleged Mistakes and Crimes.

H. L. Mencken wrote:  “The Presidency tends, year by year, to go to such men. As democracy is perfected, the office represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. We move toward a lofty ideal. On some great and glorious day the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be adorned by a downright moron.”

Donation Conundrum Of Giving Home Improvement Supplies.

Donation Conundrum Of Giving Home Improvement Supplies.

My wife was on me to clean out our garage.    One type of items that were in our garage were from prior home improvement projects, mostly electrical parts.  I went on the Internet to find places that might take construction and home improvement items for donations.  I tried to call Habitat For Humanity but no one would pick up the phone.  I decided to drive there which took almost a half hour but they would not accept any of the items.  Like Good Will, they want to sell the items for profit.  I then drove to a local Salvation Army donation site which advertised they would accept donations until 6:30.   I arrived at 4:35 and it was closed.   I then drove to Goodwill but their store would never sell electrical supplies.  I called Home Depot to ask them who would take a donation.  The person replied that if their store still sells the items, I might get a store credit.  I had two rolls of large plastic of different size, used to shield part of the floors and walls during my texture coat with drywall compound.  I drove to Home Depot to show them the remaining rolls I had for each plastic type.  They gave me a store credit for $118.13!  I find that Home Depot gave me so much money when the plastic rolls in each container were almost halve used!  Home Depot return policy is utterly FANTASTIC!  I was told that they will not put this plastic on the floor to sell again but ship it back to the supplier.

I am still looking to donate two really large boxes of miscellaneous house electrical components.  One of the store employees suggested contacting the Catholic Church.  I was told they will take anything.  I will give that a try.
