REASONS TO DENY DONALD TRUMP ATTAINING THE PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES

This entry is part 23 of 23 in the series Donald Trump

REASONS TO DENY DONALD TRUMP ATTAINING THE PRESIDENCY OF THE UNITED STATES

Main Reason: The Constitution provides that an oath-breaking insurrectionist is ineligible to be president.

Section 3 of the 14th Amendment to the Constitution reads as follows:

“No person shall … hold any office, civil or military, under the United States, or under any state, who, having previously taken an oath … to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.”

The evidence of Donald Trump’s engaging in such insurrection is overwhelming.

Here is a partial list of more reasons:

“Trump is an authoritarian populist who openly scorns America’s basic values of democracy, the rule of law and racial tolerance.”

“Some of America’s top business and economic leaders are concerned over what a possible Trump-Vance presidency could do to the economy. They cite higher inflation, recession, debt explosion, worker shortages, trade wars, deflating stock prices, slower growth, and lagging business starts as possible outcomes based on what a Trump-Vance Administration promises to do.”

“The (Trump) administration has systematically promoted the interests of corporate executives and shareholders over those of working people and failed to protect workers’ safety, wages, and rights.”

“Under Trump, the national debt grew much faster than during his successor Joe Biden. Like most populists, Trump cut taxes and spent as if there were no tomorrow, leaving a national debt that will have to be paid by our children and grandchildren for decades.”

“What made Trump such an extraordinary failure was the scope and scale of his ignominy. He was corrupt. And ignorant. And overly eager to abuse his powers. And mendacious. And indifferent in the face of crises. And overtly hostile toward the rule of law. And eager to pit Americans against each other. And a genuine threat to the integrity of the republic.”

“The prospect of Trump unchecked is not merely an offence to abstract notions of democracy. It poses multiple dangers, all of them clear and present.”

SUMMARY:

“Electing Donald J. Trump once could be dismissed as a fluke, an aberration, a terrible mistake—a consequential one, to be sure, yet still fundamentally an error. But America has now twice elected him as its President. It is a disastrous revelation about what the United States really is, as opposed to the country that so many hoped that it could be.”

____________

“Congress has the power to block Trump from taking office, but lawmakers must act now”

“The Electoral Count Act was first enacted in 1887 and later amended and restated in 2022. That statute provides a detailed mechanism for resolving disputes as to the validity of Electoral College votes.

The act specifies two grounds for objection to an electoral vote: If the electors from a state were not lawfully certified or if the vote of one or more electors was not “regularly given.” A vote for a candidate disqualified by the Constitution is plainly in accordance with the normal use of words “not regularly given.” Disqualification for engaging in insurrection is no different from disqualification based on other constitutional requirements such as age, citizenship from birth and 14 years’ residency in the United States.

To make an objection under the Count Act requires a petition signed by 20 percent of the members of each House. If the objection is sustained by majority vote in each house, the vote is not counted and the number of votes required to be elected is reduced by the number of disqualified votes. If all votes for Trump were not counted, Kamala Harris would be elected president. “

FUTURE OUTLOOK:

Any congress person who fails to thwart Donald Trump from becoming the next president should be removed from office.

It is recommend that all donations should be stopped for any political party and politician who can be found not stopping Donald Trump.
