The Los Angeles Times ran a story on their front page Wednesday August 19, 2000 titled “GOP-LED PANEL DETAILS RUSSIA’S 2016 ROLE”  and leads off their story with this first paragraph:

“WASHINGTON – President Trump’s 20016 campaign eagerly capitalized on Russia’s efforts to meddle in the U.S. election four years ago, according to a bipartisan Senate Intelligence Committee that raises new concerns about connections between his top aids and Moscow.”

The Wall Street Journal put this story in their paper the same day as the LA Times.   They put it back three pages and allegedly wrote the story in such a way that really softened the negative impact toward the Trump administration by somewhat obfuscating the facts to soften the message against Trump.

“Washington – Members of the 2016 Trump campaign represented a major counterintelligence risk to the U.S. due to their frequent contacts with individuals with close ties to the Russian government.”

Enablers are a big problem.

Why is it that a very large population of US Citizens support President Trump when by many measures he is a flawed man?  First, there is no one simple answer because it seems that so many individuals like Trump for different reasons.  So, first, let us examine one very interesting explanation that being how some parents brought up their children and instilled an attraction for authority figures.

This concept is based on a theory called the Regality Theory.  This theory sort of points the blame at the parents of some of Trump supporters.  These pro Trump individuals may have been preconditioned by their parents who used authoritarian style of expecting high performance with little direction, failed communication and very little nurturing.  If these types of children made mistakes, they tended to be punished harshly.  From the child’s point of view, not being softly directed toward learning how to succeed on their own but instead told to follow orders makes for an insecure follower type of individual who may be afraid to proceed on their own but ready to follow the type parent that they had, a dictator type.

Let us now examine some of the possible traits these citizens may possess stemming from them being being trained to be unsure and subservient:

  • The world is viewed as being dangerous.
  • They support having a strong leader.
  • They may possess strong feelings of group and tribal identity.
  • They are more willing to follow strict discipline.
  • They will punish other people’s deviant behavior.
  • The individual exists for the group.
  • Strict religion is typically followed.
  • Strict moral values are adhered to and valued.

Note that most of these elements germinated from a  family that operated like dictators.  The child only knows that to get along, to survive, they must adhere to the dictates of those in control.  They are not expected to examine or investigate on their own.  This type of person might value a strongman candidate when voting. This person may make for a fervent follower of a dictator.

For quite a few years I was using the Real Bamboo Oil Diffuser Model 7521MJ made by Greenair Inc.  It worked perfectly until it started to make a sort of grinding noise.  At first, the noise only lasted a short while after turning the unit on but as time went on the noise lasted longer and finally it would not stop.  I called customer service and told the person who answered the phone about this problem.  Immediately they offered to send me a replacement after I let the customer service person hear the noise my unit was making.    I had discovered that the device needed to be cleaned from time to time and I had not done that at all and replied that I would like to clean the unit first.  My cleaning of the unit did help a bit but the grinding noise persisted.  In a couple of weeks, I was sent a replacement unit without asking for it.  I am very impressed with them doing this.  I am also impressed with the unit itself as it looks good and works very well.

By any measure you can come up with Donald Trump has been a disaster for the United States and possibly the world.  Here are the reasons why:

Due to President Trump’s incompetent inaction in organizing the fight agains the COVOD-19 virus he is responsible for the deaths of 83,717 people (as of 7/21/2020).

Trump lies incessantly.  As of July 21, 2020 he has lied over 20,055 times.

Trump has had a long history of business failures, at least 13.  At least 6 Trump companies have sought bankruptcy protection.

At least 4,095 lawsuits against Donald Trump.

Trump has failed to protect the US Military.

Trump has been accused of sexual misconduct by at least 24 women.

Trump is an alleged bigot.

Trump administration’s performance on refugee and humanitarian protection is awful.

President Trump has created his own secret police.

President Trump has appointed the worst cabinet in American history.  Following are some examples:

So why are so many citizens of the United States rather unconcerned about having a stupid, self centered, lack of empathy leader?  A partial answer is the Dunning-Kruger effect.

June 29, 2020 I decided to subscribe to Consumer Reports and did so.  I got a confirmation in part as follows:

“Your Print membership to Consumer Reports is now active.

Get started by creating your membership account on cr.org to access all your benefits. You can expect your first issue of Consumer Reports magazine to arrive at your home within 4-6 weeks.”

I mouse clicked on the creating your membership account on cr.org  and was sent to a web page asking me for my account number.  When I purchased the publication I should have been given that but was not.  This new web site page tells me that I now have to wait to receive my first print magazine so I can see my account number.  That is stupid.

“Your account number appears on your Consumer Reports mailing label”

I then call customer service, during their published hours, but no one answers and I get a recording that their mail box is full.

Looks like this is a failed operation.  There are so many businesses that fail to shop their operation.

My wife wanted me to move a pile of pipes and other rather long outdoor items laying on the east side of our back yard. This is because the single side gate was next to this pile and looked pretty bad. I decided to place the items on the other, west side, of the back yard but that side of the house was engineered to accept flood water and pipe it out to the front street through a sunken pipe system. If I put this pile of debris on the west side, I would need to make sure that any future rain water can flow below the debris items.

I first tried to drill holes into wood to accept PVC pipe but I found out that the wood would split easily. I then went to Home Depot and purchased metal 3/4” floor flanges, (Southland 817006 521- 604HP).  I then purchased PVC adapters  that screwed easily into the treads in this flange.  Metal pipes were too expensive.  I screwed these metal adapters on to 3 pressure treated wood, each just over 2 feet long.  I then screwed the PVC adapters into the metal plates.  I had quite a bit of 3/4 inch white PVC irrigation pipe and that fit into the PVC adapters to make a vertical boundary to contain the items within so they would not roll off the container. Once each unit was completed I placed each on some bricks so water could easily flow under this storage unit.  I placed each of the 3 devices a distance from each other that I totally guesses would work for me.
