A Front Door Lock Check Is Important

A Front Door Lock Check Is Important

For years, when I leave my house after locking the front door, I turn the outside front door to make sure that the door is locked.  I have a habit of turning the knob back and forth a number of times probably to make sure the door is really locked.  A few months ago I sort of noticed that I forgot to lock the door because it would open after turning the outside door knob a few times.  I was very much wrong.  I had NOT forgotten to lock the door.  I finally discovered that turning the outside front door knob after locking the door would unlock the door!  YIKES!

Watch the “Outside Door Knob” to see this happen:

Watch in the next video “Faulty Front Door Lock“ what takes place with the inside door lock.  As the outside door lock handle is rotated back and forth the inside lock moves slowly to unlock the door.

My wife told me that she thinks our front door lock is twenty years old.  I called a locksmith immediately to have that front door lock replaced.  The locksmith told me that this problem can happen as the door lock ages with corrosion.

A long time ago, I came into contact with an older women fitness trainer at a local gym that I attended.  I never use trainers but we had just a few casual conversations at the gym. She specialized in helping the older clients.   I only had a very casual acquaintance with her.  I left the fitness club a long time ago.  About a year ago I met her at the same post office I use and she invited me to join her for coffee at a place across the street.  She then called me whenever she went to the post office to pick up her mail and we would go to the same place for coffee.  I found out that she was homeless but was fortunate enough to be taken in at a home for older women.  I found out that she paid about $6 to have a bus take her to the post office.  I then insisted that I pick her up at her house.   Then I discovered that she was facing problems.  She seemed to have some sort of mental problem, possibly dementia.  She had difficulty hearing.  I frequently had to take louder and repeat myself.  I took her to the store where she would get her hearing aid repaired but her hearing aid never seemed to work properly.  The home where she was allowed to stay evidently had requirements that each women attend periodic doctor appointments.  My friend failed to remember her doctor appointments so her shelter house told her that she was about to be kicked out of the house!  She would be homeless.  I could not believe that they would do this to her.  She has family in Texas and they had a house that her father gave to his children.  Two of her siblings lived in that house and now they invited her to join them.  So it was decided that she should travel back to Texas.  I had to buy her train ticket, accessible coach seat, for her which cost $222.30 .  I was told that she had no luggage for the trip to Austin, Texas.  No one at the house, where she was staying, could tell me what size and shape suitcase she needed.  I went to COSTCO and purchased a Delsey suitcase for $188.55.   I chose COSTCO because they have a very good return policy and it was way too dicey that this lady would end up using this suitcase so I wanted some way to get my money back.   I then went to STAPLES and purchased shipping boxes and a tape gun for $21.45.  When I arrived at the house where she was staying, I was told that no men are allowed in.  I had to park in their driveway where I unloaded the shipping boxes and suitcase.  I asked the women who came out to help me that I wanted the suitcase box to be returned to me along with the suitcase, in case it was not used.  I also requested that the STAPLES shipping materials that was not used to also be returned to me.  A few days later, I drove over to the house to take my friend to the train station.   She was not using the suitcase that I had purchased at COSTCO because that people at the house where she stayed could not figure out how to open the TSA locks from reading the instructions included with the suitcase.  So when I arrived to pick her up, she had a very small, close to the ground, wheeled bag.  The women, at the house, also provided one single cardboard box that needed to be mailed back to her new address.   I drove my friend to the train station where we I purchased an Amtrak ticket to Texas for $222.30.  My wife had given me a bag of green grapes for my friend to take with her which turned out to be a fantastic solution for her getting food and liquid for the whole day trip.  She reported back to me that she never left her seat, on the train, for the whole trip.  She did not go to the dining car.  She only had those green grapes.  Family members picked her up at the train station when she arrived in Texas.  I returned to the home where my friend stayed to pick up the COSTCO luggage and the STAPLES items that were not used.  The ladies at this house also failed to provide the box which the COSTCO luggage was package in.  I had total right knee replacement surgery the very next day after sending my friend on the train to Texas so I was unable to attempt to return the COSTCO luggage for about three weeks.  So weeks later, I finally drove to COSTCO to see if they would reimburse me for buying the luggage.  All I had was a receipt. I was missing the box which the luggage came in.  I was missing the paperwork which the luggage provided and described how to use that piece of luggage.  It took two COSTCO employees to figure out the situation for me.  One employee knew that there was a second piece of luggage inside the large one and they had to test that it was still inside.  They used their fingers to poke through a small zipper opening but could not reach that deep inside.  Then they used a long pencil or pen to poke inside the luggage to see if they hit the inside piece of luggage and finally did hit the hidden luggage inside. Then they shook the whole luggage and felt that there was a second piece of luggage inside to confirm their first finding.  I then was given the full refund for returning this luggage!   I was expecting them to refuse this return.  I was a bit shocked at their wonderful attempts to make me happy for shopping at COSTCO.  I am indebted to their pro customer attitude.  I love shopping at COSTCO and have more reason to do so in the future.

Update:  The homeless women’s family sent me a check for $300 which completely covered my expenses.

House of Trump, House of Putin by Craig Unger Book Review

House of Trump, House of Putin by Craig Unger Book Review

My life has changed quite a bit from having one knee totally replaced.  My day is full of icing my knee, taking medications, doing leg exercises, meeting with nurses that come to my home almost every day.  I wish to share with you a remarkable part of my life that is totally unexpected that has resulted in this knee replacement.  When I ice my knee every 40 minutes for 20 minutes, I am laying down with the ice application part of the machine attached to my knee.  I decided to use my bluetooth wireless headset and listen to an Audible book.  I had already purchased House of Trump, House of Putin by Craig Unger and decided to listen to that book.  Let me share with you my evaluation.  I really recommend that you listening to the book rather than reading it.  For me, hearing the book places it almost similar to viewing a stage play.  Hearing the book seems to add a deeper dimension, a deeper understanding of the story.  I would never read this book but rather listen to it.  The person reading the book to you, Jason Culp, does such a very good job.  The book’s contents, for me, are utterly shocking.  The book describes the history of Donald Trump and Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin and the Russian Mafia as well as other crime individuals and gangs.  At times the timeline histories are separate but then then meet when the crime characters come together. The list of criminal individuals revealed in the book seems enormous.  What these crime people do is awful and shocking.  In my mind, I keep thinking that most of this is made up because the story line, what these crime bosses do is so unreal.

This book, for me is sort of a hidden history book that explains what is taking place in the sewers of society.

Takeaways:

I have the opinion that there is a level of criminality practiced at such a high political level that the individuals involved seem to have immunity from being held responsible for their crimes.  The word Teflon is sometimes used by other individuals who also share this view.  As a result, I am gaining a view that the United States just might have separate levels of justice for the common person vs the politically connected.  The current United States examples of this possible dual standard are as follows:

  • The United States Justice Department seemingly reluctant to follow through in prosecuting Donald Trump.
  • The United States Supreme Court being unable to force Clarence Thomas to recuse himself from cases that have ties to Jinni Thomas text messages.

The Russian part of this story portrays vast deep and close to complete social political and legal self serving criminal society that fails to believe and practice any good value system.  It appears to me that the average Russian citizen is utterly complicit with the criminality because they are uncaring, ignorant, integrity deprived.  I get the picture that the common Russian goes about their simple lives with no intent or ability to try to take back Russia from the scum who currently rule their country.

I view this colossal collection of awful criminals as being on a sort of a  continuum a sort of scale of how much scum each person practices .  Putin is the worst of the worst being at the bottom and Donald Trump rides up and down slowly but overall descends closer to hurting society as much as Putin .  Each criminal scum bag has his own methods for being a terrible individual.  A common reason for their behavior is self centered interests, wishes and actions.  I have yet to understand how this type of individual came to being so selfish.

I really recommend this book.

Putin And Russian People Are Responsible For Massive Deaths And Suffering In Ukraine

Opinion:

Slava Ukraini

Now let me get this straight and correct about the current leader of Russia, Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin.

Cockroach Putin has a rather long past history of being a corrupt person.  Some commentators refer to him as being a mafia boss.  He is quite similar to Donald Trump in that both people appear to be incredibly self centered.

Cockroach Putin is a killer and war criminal as shown below.  But, the Russian people allow this alleged cretin scum sucking bag to rule their country.  This does not portray the Russian people as being knowledgeable, concerned, compassionate, and responsible for the actions made in the name of Russia.  Their country appears to be something of a cesspool, devoid of any aspects of humaneness with this current invasion of Ukraine.

It would appear that the Russian people are ultimately to blame for not putting a stop to Putin for past, current and his future crimes.

Here is just a partial list of him being a murderer or participating in murder:

“… in 1999, he almost certainly approved, and perhaps even orchestrated, the bombings of two apartment buildings in Moscow, in which hundreds of innocent Russians lost their lives.”

“… reignite the Second Chechen War, in which he launched a massive air and land campaign that produced thousands of refugees, reduced much of the Chechen capital Grozny to rubble and killed at least 25,000 civilians.”

“Putin has funded, promoted, supplied and aided and abetted the Russian and pro-Russian terrorists in eastern Ukraine. Thus far, that war has taken 10,000 lives.”

“Putin’s proxies who shot down Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 on July 17, 2014, killing 298 innocent people aboard.”

“Russia’s ruthless bombing of Syria’s civilian population”

Alleged mysterious killings attributed to Putin:

      • Alexander Litvinenko
      • Anna Politkovskaya
      • Boris Nemtsov
      • Sergei Magnitsky
      • Natalia Estemirova
      • Sergei Yushenkov
      • Paul Klebnikov
      • Stanislav Markelov
      • Anastasia Baburova

12 opposition leaders from various parts of the former Soviet Union have also been killed in mysterious circumstances in Turkey.”

Russia declared war with Ukraine February 24, 2022.  Military and civilian portions of Ukraine are being attacked.

Statistics for Ukraine:

      • Civilian deaths:  3,393 killed (3-23-2022).  Among the 331 killed were 19 children.  (Measured March 4, 2022)
      • Injured: 675
      • More than one million people have left Ukraine.

Statistics for Russia:

      • 14,000 soldiers killed (3-23-2022)
      • 1,597 wounded.

Protester marching with posters Support Ukraine Save Peace in Europe. Prostest against Russian agression. Helsinki, Finland, 7.02.2022

Rough total death total attributed to Putin and the Russian people:  73,641. (This number is a low approximation)

The Russian people should punish this alleged criminal, cockroach Putin, to the full extent by removing him from power and placing him on trial.

It would serve Russia and the rest of the world greatly to see cockroach Putin removed from power and even existence, that is if the Russian people feel any ounce of responsibility for the crimes being committed in his name, under his tacit command with no corrective actions taken by the Russian people.

A Russian entrepreneur who offered a $1 million bounty for the arrest of Russian President Vladimir Putin says he posted the reward because he wants to solidify Putin’s public image as a war criminal.

There is now even some concern that cockroach Putin just might have a level of dementia due to his current incursion into Ukraine because such an action fails to reward Russia in any way, an utterly stupid attack.

The people of the world should send a message to the Russian people that they are responsible for these despicable actions by allowing their retarded leader to invade and kill Ukrainian people.  It is recommended that we all follow the following actions:

  • Do not support any Russian business.
  • Do not send any aid of any sort to any Russian business, charity or person.
  • Do not talk to any Russian person except to voice your anger and concerns against Putin.
  • Do even more than listed here to show our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and NOT cockroach Putin.

Kaiser May Be Out Of Touch With Recent Alzheimers Research

My mother suffered for years from having Alzheimers Disease.  The disease is simply awful and I do not want to get it.  I found that taking Viagra (sildenafil) can help protect men from getting this disease.

“Because our findings only establish an association between sildenafil use and reduced incidence of Alzheimer’s disease, we are now planning a mechanistic trial and a phase II randomized clinical trial to test causality and confirm sildenafil’s clinical benefits for Alzheimer’s patients,” Cheng explains.

But, you need a prescription to take Viagra.  I sent my Kaiser doctor a message asking that I get a prescription.  This is the doctor’s reply:

“I asked our neurologist and he is not aware of any indication for sildenafil (Viagra) use for prevention of alzheimer’s.”

Next I discovered that coffee might help to ward off alzheimers:

Other observational studies have been conducted with healthy volunteers and the results have been mixed. Some have shown a protective effect against Alzheimer’s disease, some have shown a protective effect only in women, while others have shown no effect at all.

I am now trying to drink more coffee every day.

VORNADO Room Heater Fails To Turn On. Not True.

There is NOTHING wrong with this heater.  The problem was user error.

This is the product Information found at the bottom of the box which the heater comes in:

  • EN1-0097-85
  • DODEL AWRH
  • ITM./ART.  1415862

I purchased this room heater February 15, 2022.  After unpacking the unit out of the box it came in, I plugged it in but the heater would not come on.  I tried the heater in three different AC outlets and still the heater would NOT come on.  Just by chance I found the reason.  There is a safety on/off switch at the bottom of the unit.  If you turn the unit upside down, you will find what looks like a small post leg.  It is actually a switch.  You can easily rotate this protrusion.   This device moves slightly in and out of the heater body.  If this device is out from the bottom just a little from the normal bottom of the heater it will shut off.  Thus, if the unit tips over the unit will turn off because this spring loaded plunger type device will extend and shut off the switch it is connected.

But, I found that the surface that the heater rests on must be flat and level so the safety switch is moved upward into the unit to turn the unit on.   I had made the mistake of placing the heater down upon a desk where a thin plastic ID card was under the heater.  This thin card was enough to lift the heater up and shut the safety switch off.

So far, I do like this heater.
