RF Interference From Craftsman Charger Toward Yaesu FT-817

RF Interference From Craftsman Charger Toward Yaesu FT-817

I had an interesting conversation with a salesman at Ham Radio Outlet about putting up an antenna inside a house.  He told me that house appliances, florescent figures and many other devices would interfere with an indoor antenna.  That evening I connected my Yaesu FT-817 inside my home office to function as a short wave receiver.  I hooked it up to my Spider antenna with a 20 Mhz coil.  I put the radio into scan and got nothing but a lot of noise.  A day later I pulled off a Craftsman portable drill battery off its charger and unplugged the charger while the Yaesu radio was set for 10 Mhz, Fort Collins, Colorado, WWV, National Bureau of Standards station that should be received.  All of a sudden the radio was quiet except the click audio of the WWV station sending out timing signals.  I reconnected the Craftsman charger and the horrendous noise returned.  My Yaesu radio now functions quite nicely with the Craftsman charger disconnected.

The Republican Party Agenda

The Republican Party will not raise taxes on the wealthy to help this nation out of a deep recession and government short fall.  They will not raise the debt ceiling.  The apparent reason for this is their alleged sequence of priorities.  Let us provide a list in order of importance:

  • The rich.
  • Large and powerful businesses.
  • Getting as many Republicans reelected as possible.
  • Furthering the Republican Party; make it more powerful.
  • This country.

Also of note is the possibility that the Republican Party shows less concern for American consumers than the financial industry by opposing the appointment of Elizabeth Warren from heading the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.  Elizabeth Warren is undoubtedly the most qualified individual for that position.

Through out most of 2011, the Republican and Democratic party were not passing much legislation, far apart on most issues, could not agree upon resolving the debt limit.  Much of the citizenry were pretty disgusted with both parties.  Let us take a singular view and see if it shows merit.

Think in your mind of a barren space, smooth and flat in every direction.  An arbitrary line is drawn north and south for a distance of 200 yards.  You stand straddling the line at the south end facing north so you can view both or either side of the line.  The line is one foot wide, painted a bright white color and upon the line are stacks of money, huge amounts of money within easy reach of anyone who approaches the line.    Two individuals stand on either side of the white line that is now covered with money reaching up about eight feet.   One man representing the Democratic party is on the west side, or left of the line from your view.   The other the man representing the Republican is standing on the east, or right side.  Each man is allowed to stand closer to the line depends upon some simple rules.  Either man can stand closer to the wall of money if his party approaches the values of the whole country.  Either man can stand closer to the line if he works toward the better good of all citizens including minorities and gays.  Either man can get closer to the line if he achieves legislation and programs that benefit as many citizens and businesses as possible.   Guess who is closer to the wall and pulling money from it as campaign contributions?

Example from LA Times:

Republicans face a money challenge

The first look at the campaign finance activities of the 2012 White House contenders underscored not only President Obama’s huge cash advantage over his rivals but also the wide disparities in the Republican field, setting the stage for an urgent money hunt by GOP candidates in the coming months. I just love to make a personal discovery of a singer that I have never heard of before and measure how much I like the music or not.  An Austrian acquaintance suggested that I listen to the music of Anna Friedberg (real name is Anna Wappel) who lives in Austria.  Her stage name is Anna F.  Wikipedia article on her shows a singer that seems committed to her craft as she has been rising in popularity and won awards.  iTunes offers a couple of her albums, The first album For Real with 15 songs shows 12 maximum popularity.  The second album Most of All with 2 songs both with highest popularity rating.  The songs on Most of All were duplicated in For Real but the recordings in Most of All, in my opinion were way better done.  I should have mentioned earlier that the major shock for me is she sings in English and does so extremely well.  I recommend that you give her a listen on YouTube or iTunes.

Some of the United States electorate parachute in with a view or belief and then as quickly leave the continuum of discussion and intellectual discovery.  These individuals hold a particular political or social viewpoint that upon further examination they spout from hearing friends views or hear a talk show or read an article in a newspaper or magazine with little or no tie to real facts.  They might not have interest in politics or the time to immerse themselves in the time it takes to formulate well researched and thought out opinions.  Political parachute individuals occupy every part of the political spectrum and are not tied to the Republicans or Democrats.

Connecting The Dots

Connecting The Dots

Connecting the dots is a multiple stage process.  The first stage is to do what anthropologists do and that is to codify or break down a problem in its component parts so the part that you identify makes sense.  For example if we were to examine global warming, we would try to find some indicators of snow pack fall, changes in precipitation, changes in heat or coolness at different global locations, etc.  The next stage is to look backward in time and come up with a measure for a single item and then track changes going forward.  We then need compare now and past data points or look at a progression of data points from the past to the present.  Next we need to look for trends.  This is where charts can really come in handy.  A chart showing a incline means an increase and a decline means a decrease in that component.  What about a social progression?   For example, how would we measure whether we need another stimulus to the economy?  We could do some research and try to find some pertinent economic factors that show how healthy or sick an economy is.  Right now everyone believes the economy is sick and a lot of economic indicators are rather low, like employment , business activity, housing starts, exports, manufacturing.

It really does not help our nation when one of the main political parties can not seem to face reality but sticks to a contrived fantasy of their making.  This is either political gamesmanship or an inability to connect the dots.

Proof that the Republicans can NOT connect the dots:

  • Proof: Republicans typically reject global warming even though scientists have pretty much proved and paraded it’s existence.
  • Proof:  The Republicans have rejected the consensus from US and foreign economists that there needs to be another stimulus to help the middle class.
  • Proof:  The Republicans have been working to downsize education, police, fire and health agencies when the unemployment rate may be within five points from matching the great depression.
