I had to travel to my sister’s mobile home residence while she was away on a long vacation.  I went to her place on weekends so that I could take care of her yard plants surrounding her mobile home.  I decided to stay over night each weekend.  Her home had two bedrooms and I decided not to use her bed but the second bedroom.  Problem for me was that the bed in that second bedroom was not that comfortable to sleep on.  I went into town the very next day and found a store that sold mattress toppers.   A topper is typically a short thickness, soft padding the same dimension as the bed that it will be placed upon.  The topper I chose was 3 inches in thickness of foam.  The store, quite conveniently, also offered a slip on cover for the topper for me to buy.  This topper cover completely encased the foam except at the bottom where there is a large opening that has elastic edging to keep the cover tight across the foam.  The whole unit was easily rolled up so I could drive it back to my sister’s home. 

I faced a new problem.  The topper now made the bed taller and that bed mattress cover, a large bed sheet really needed to be tucked in while pressing down on the topper so to minimize how much of the mattress cover was needed.

After my sister arrived back from her vacation, I returned home but I took the topper with me.  At my house, my bed mattress is quite tall and adding a topper really made it quite high.

 

Note that measuring the regular mattress with the topper resting on top shows that the side height is about 14 inches.

 

 

My mattress measurements.

  • Mattress = 11 inches. (The industry size of standard mattress depth is 7 inches.)
  • Topper = 3 inches
  • TOTAL. = 14 inches.  It is recommended that you measure the total side mattress dimension so you buy a good bottom fitted sheet.  We are seeing fitted sheet side height up to 20 inches for some products.

When buying bed sheets look to make sure that the bottom fitted sheet side dimensions will not only cover the mattress sides but also be longer so that the elastic on that sheet is well under the bottom of the mattress.  For example, if your mattress is 11 inches high, buy a side dimension larger so the fitted sheet with it’s elastic ends lays well under the mattress.

So, I then had to go shopping for a bottom bed sheet that would fit tight over and around these two mattresses.  My first bed sheets purchase did not work after a purchase from a very good national chain store.   I checked around and found a pretty good solution at the  Sit ‘n Sleep store.  The solution was that one of their products, DreamFit has very wide elastic bands at each corner of the bottom sheet and these bands are attached far enough away from the corner of the sheet that it really grips the mattress. (see image below).

In the image below I took a picture of the Sit & Sleep, very small store demo exhibit, that explains how the bottom DreamFit sheet fits remarkably well on to most mattresses. 

 

 

Problem that I faced is that my total mattress height was about 14 inches.  The DreamFit bottom sheet still worked because of the very wide corner elastic bands.  The elastic that runs around the whole bottom did not help because they landed along the sides of the mattress (see top image).

NOTE:  My daughter recommends these bed sheets.  Eucalyptus sheets can help regulate body temperature, keeping you comfy and cool all night long. Plus, they’re hypoallergenic and resistant to bacterial growth, which makes them ideal for sensitive skin.

I really like JC Penney store for their bed sheets and I check out their men’s clothing every time I have to go to the nearby Apple Store.  In fact, I had just the day before sent all my immediate men friends and family a tip about a jacket and pants that I though was a terrific deal from JC Penney. 

(Cell phone text message follows)

“I go into the JC PENNY men’s clothing section looking for white long sleeve real light weight shirts (to avoid skin cancer and be cool). Today I found XERSION Tricot white light weight jacket and Track pants for total price $35.54!  INCREDIBLE PRICE! And the jacket has a full front zipper and internal pockets!”

But, June 4, 2023, I had what I consider a bad experience.  I purchased Perry Ellis Men’s Midnight EDT Spray 3.4 oz for $75.   When I got home, out of curiosity, I checked how much that spray would cost if I ordered it from the Internet.  The Amazon cost was $32.41.  I had paid $42.59 more at JC Penney!  Yikes!

When I checked my plastic bag, which the clerk put the product and receipt in, I noticed an advertisement that if I made my purchase during Father’s Day sale, a week from today, I would receive my choice of 4 free items.

I tried for over half an hour to talk to a JC Penney customer service person about the purchase so I could share my negative view I made today of my purchase, but I was on hold for such a long time that I tried another option.  I looked for an e-mail but only a Tweet account showed.  I tried that option but I had to go through such a ridiculous amount of security steps which ended not working.  So, I now have a new option for JC Penney that is diminished somewhat.   Contacting JC Penney appears to me to be way too difficult which is rather stupid, in my opinion.  There should be a simple e-mail option and fast phone service. 

I now have share with you, my mistake that I should have examined before I made my purchase.   Check Internet pricing.

Please contemplate running for a Republican Party office.  Listed next are some requirements and beliefs that our future Republican Party candidates should ponder and see if you agree with some of these party beliefs and ideals:

You should understand that Fascism is a way better form of government than Democracy.  You should not reveal that this is your intent.  You only need to impose it’s mission.   Democracy is so messy to administer while Fascism is singular in purpose and simple to install and enforce upon the public.  Also, a politician who portrays himself of her self as an authoritarian, often times comes across as being a decisive and powerful person.  The American public generally want strong leadership and will look past the actions you take if they can be seen as working for what is best for the ruling class and the party.    The modern Republican party is hurtling towards fascism.

As a fascist, you can believe that women should not have the right to an abortion, that women are not rulers of their bodies but men are.  You can outlaw abortions if you are a Republican.   Abortion was a 50/50 issue. Now, it’s Republican quicksand.

As a racist, you can ban books.  The rising Republican movement to defund public libraries.

If you agree that supporting the poor and vulnerable is a waste of money, then you are for being a Republican.

It appears that the Republican Party wants to enforce a US national debt limit as a smoke screen, an excuse, to reward the wealthy.  

Here is a list of the Republican proposed budget cuts.  Most cuts help the wealthy.  Those are listed first:

Defunding the Internal Revenue Service to a very large extent allows the wealthy to cheat on their taxes.

 “… the reduced funding would mean the IRS could do less to enforce our tax laws and ensure that wealthy households pay the taxes they owe.”

Republicans want to repeal most of the tax breaks that Democrats passed last year to boost the production of clean energy. 

“Nearly a dozen of the House GOP members who introduced legislation that is now in H.R. 1 and McCarthy’s debt ceiling bill own fossil fuel industry assets in their household portfolios, with several of the bills’ authors holding hundreds of thousands of dollars worth and one holding millions of dollars in oil wells.”

It appears that the fossil fuel industry wants to expand their operations and continue to warm the planet thus ruin Earth.

“The legislation would sharply increase domestic production of oil, natural gas and coal, and ease permitting restrictions that delay pipelines, refineries and other projects.”


Part of their bill includes clawing back financial gains for disadvantaged Americans.  This makes this republican group the party of kleptocracy rulers who are willing to diminish the reputation, the standing, of the United States to achieve financial rewards for their wealthy clients by lowering their future taxes .

Our house seems to need Wifi extenders to improve getting good Internet on our computers and cell phones.  I did a fair amount of research and chose the product “eero mesh WiFi system – router replacement for whole-home coverage (3-pack)” which cost me $129.99.  The website rating was pretty good at 4.4 and achieved an Amazon Choice recommendation.  But, after installing the units, we experienced random short periods loosing our Internet.  The cause was the Eero units.  I found some web sites that support that a lot of people were having this problem.  There were a few simple web site solutions that I tried but none worked for me.  I finally gave up and called Amazon customer support.  I talked to a man located in India, a terrific fellow, who understood the problem and immediately approved my returning the extenders.  He sent me a return shipping label to my computer within minutes.  I had saved the original box.  How it was repackaged was real easy and I was able to get my package ready to ship out in less than ten minutes.  I dropped the package off at the FEDEX store and those people accepting the shipment with no problem.  Within less than one hour, I got a message from Amazon that my full purchase price was returned to me!  YIKES!  INCREDIBLE!  Amazon had no way to check to see that I had sent them back all three units!   That really impressed me!

I started having problems with bowel movement.  I am a pretty old person and this might be age related.  I was not going as often as I knew I should.  My first solution was taking the product MiraLAX.   MiraLAX softens stools, which for me, worked very well but then caused a new problem.

 

 

It worked very well.  I took it for over one year but it had one significant down side.  I found that I had to use a very large amount of toilet paper.  My stools were way too soft.  I came to realize and fear that I would not be able to travel by air or bus.

My current solution is using MetaMUCIL.   For me, MetaMUCIL allows for regular bowel movement but the stools are not soft and messy.

 

 

Every morning, I add a .022 oz on-the-go, sugar free, orange flavor, psyllium fiber supplement to a glass of Figi water and stir the powder into the water until there is no lumping.  I drink the MetaMUCIL packet contents with my morning medications and vitamins.  Now, I use very little toilet paper; a near perfect solution.

I also eat two MetaMUCIL FIBER THINS cracker (2 are in each envelope) when I take my morning walk.  I always take water with me on my walk because these crackers some times really need some water.

 

 

I still use MiraLAX whenever I find myself not having a bowel movement for a period of time.

Please note that you should be careful taking any of these products because you are most definitely different in so many ways than the author.  Consider talking to your doctor before you try any of these products.  Also, you might consider adding anything new to your diet slowly and maybe keep a log listing date and time of the results you detect.
